Sprint Race Saturday, Baku
Baku hosted the first new Sprint Race format comprising a Sprint Shootout followed by the Sprint Race. It didn’t fail to entertain including Yellow flags, failed strategies of using soft tyres, cars running into walls and Russel and Verstappen having a close encounter. It made for a very exciting weekend of racing with fans yelling every step of the way! We were in the Filarmoniya grandstand on turn 16 and saw plenty of action. The whole Grand Prix weekend was heavily guarded with police and security guards doing spot checks and watching our every move. Not entirely sure what they thought the fans would do but we were outnumbered and watched like hawks! The fanzone’s provided the usual entertainment with the stunning backdrop of the Caspian Sea on one side and the old city on the other. There were not as many people at this GP as we’ve encountered at the previous races, lots of Russians, a few British, Dutch and Mexicans – and us!
woohoo! what a weekend!
